World Junior Championships Erzurum

7 March 2014   -   From 7-9 March the ISU World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships are held in Erzurum - Turkey. Although the Turkish Ice Skating Federation already had organized the 2011 Winter Universiade, it is the first time in history that Turkey is hosting a Worldchampionships in Short Track. Erzurum is a city on 1000 km east of Istanbul and is and was in history an important centerpoint for the trading routes from Europe to Asia. It is a real winter sport center at the foot of Palandöken Mountain at an altitude of almost 2000 meter. The Yenisehir Icerink is hosting this championships for which 188 skaters from 39 countries came to Erzurum.
