This week: in memoriam Willy Caboor (Belgium)

10 June 2026   -   On the 8th of june Willy Caboor passed away while sleeping. For many years he was the Chairman of the Boudewijn Park Snelschaats Club Brugge and a big promotor for shorttrack in Belgium. He started the club in 1969 and started organising national and international competitions. In 1975 for the first time skaters from the Netherlands were invited to his competition. This was the official start of shorttrack in the Netherlands.
   
    The international competition in Brugge became bigger and bigger and also a seperate competition for juniors was started up. This developed later into the famous Easter Tournement what still is held in Gent (BEL). Thanks to Willy Caboor and his volunteer friends and family shorttrack developed in the beginning years very well in West Europa.
   
    We give our condolences to his family,club-members of BSC and friends. May he rest in peace.
